104 CDN.....

back>>>>

The 104 is my newest acquisition from the Canadian Military.  It is a 1.5 ton Cargo variant usually towed behind the 2.5 ton or 5 ton truck.  This trailer is extremely heavy duty, and therefore is quite a heavy trailer to tow.  This one doesn't see really any highway miles and is regulated to farm and property duty.  This one is a 1988 model and is in extremely good condition,  so my plans for it are minimal.  I plan to Line-X the bed, touch up some spots with paint, and add the LED military lights.  This trailer was also purchased from Willy's Acres.

This trailer is huge, with me standing next to it the top is at my shoulders.  The tires are new 11X20 Michelin XZL mounted on 2-piece steel rims.  These are the latest two-piece rims currently in service and not the old style split rims of the older A2 variant.   The trailer has air brakes standard, and I've converted the 24 volt electrics to 12 volt, and replaced the old reflectors which were half painted over and starting to corrode.

Helmut pulls this trailer fairly easily, but the weight can definitely be felt on the hills.  Off-road it is like it isn't even there, in fact it makes for a much smoother ride.  My truck doesn't have the factory trailer air brake set-up so this trailer doesn't venture into town, but makes a great farm and general purpose trailer.
