The Kubota RTV900 arrived this summer (2005) and has been quickly put to work around the farm. It's a pretty amazing machine, although not as capable off-road as you standard ATV. It's main purpose is work though, and it does that well. It can carry 1000lbs of stuff in the hydraulic dump bed, or tow 1200lbs behind it with the tow hitch receiver. One of the greatest advantages the Kubota has over the competition is the 3-cylinder diesel engine and hydrostatic transmission.
Since our winters are cold, and summers can be blistering hot, we opted for the roof and doors (not shown) in the woodland camo of course..... Check out these pics of the bed fully raised in the dump position, and note the "truck like" bed liner.
The Kubota basically is built like a truck, save for it's mid-engine design. It has leaf springs in the rear and independent suspension up front. Normally it drives around in 2WD but can be put into 4WD low range, medium range, or high range, and features a rear differential lock. With the bed raised servicing the 3 cylinder diesel is quite easy.
Helmut's new tender.... Here's a few comparison shots of the RTV next to the U1100 Unimog. It might be a little too big to put in the bed......
