Minden has become one of the most popular places to wheel as of late. There is some amazing camping areas around these parts but it has become so busy that you almost have to take a day off work to get a spot for the weekend.
1999: Rovers in Minden. This was a good trip but the bugs were unbelievable....
2001: This was the shakedown Mog cruise, it had just been delivered to me about two weeks prior to these photos.
2006: Timber Trail Run
Pete, Dave, Jason and I headed up to Minden for the day. The weather was beautiful, the leaves were in there last stage of color, and the Timber Trail did not disappoint. This short loop trail was just recently cut and had a nice mix of loose ground, and rock - very unlike the good ol' Canadian mud that we are used to. Not too much carnage for the day - other than a slight fire in the buggy resulting in a dead battery, one busted up ring and pinion in the front D44, and one busted brake flex hose on the Willy's.
Try and try as he might - the mighty Helmut could not make it up this loose dirt and rocky climb. Of course the Willy's and the rock buggy didn't make it easy on him.... Mog's just don't have that foot to the floor ability of other high-powered 4x4's. We shall assault it again next year....
JULY 2007: Timber Trail & The Rock run
Helmut's first run of 2007 was a second helping of the Timber Trail. We didn't make it to the end on this day so the infamous hill will have to wait. We had some Suzuki carnage and a power-steering problem with the rock buggy that shortened the day. We did manage to finish "The Rock" after a day of almost non-stop rain so not all was lost.
