Our very first Rover was a 1964 Series IIA 88" that we towed back from Timmins, Ontario in the mid-1990's. It had done duty for years as a plow truck and was not in any way legal to be driven on the road. It had the usual Lucas electrical gremlins, and years of being maintained by "shade-tree" mechanics, but it all worked, and it excelled as a farm vehicle which was its primary role. Our problems with it were minimal, but it eventually was destined to be sold as we wanted to venture further from the farm with it, and its legality issues were too many to over-come. It currently resides at the local English car mechanics shop, back to its roots as a snow plow truck. When last I spoke to him, he was thinking of putting a V8 under the bonnet.....
Our other Rovers consist mostly of street queens driven by the family. Rovers make excellent transport in the frozen tundra we call Canada, and we've been through three such versions of these, The first being a 1998 Discovery LE, the second being a 2002 Discovery SE (not pictured), and the latest addition, which just arrived this spring, a 2005 LR3. The LR3 is an amazing machine by Land Rover standards, although it just doesn't have that Land Rover "feel" to me. Perhaps they have made a truck that is too perfect to be a Land Rover. At any rate, it makes for great transport, and with any luck, I'll take this one on some light trails in the future......
