WHAT IS 4X4 FREEDOM.....

We started this site as a way to share our adventures both in the garage  and out on the road, with people who have similar interests and the spirit of exploring lands that we might other-wise never get to see or appreciate.  The idea of 4x4 freedom is the use of an off-road vehicle to explore those lands and cultures, and to free us from the doldrums of "normal" life.  Of all the ways we've explored the back-country over the years, a 4x4 proved to be a most useful companion, and  provides for many a skinned knuckle when hanging around the garage. 

We first hit the trail in the early 90's and have been exploring parts of Canada, the USA,  Mexico, and into Central America.  We started on the "beater" trails, where you're lucky your truck makes it back in one piece, but have since leaned more towards the long-range camping trips which fill our need for getting away from it all.  The freedom to explore little seen places, and the feelings of freedom you get from being there is what 4x4 Freedom is all about.
